About Dizone 250 Mg
Dizone 250 Mg contains Disulfiram 250mg, prescribed for alcohol dependence. It supports recovery programmes by addressing the neurochemical basis of addiction and is most effective when combined with counselling and behavioural support.
Benefits of Dizone 250 Mg
- Craving Reduction: Reduces the neurochemical drive to use alcohol or tobacco.
- Relapse Prevention: Supports sustained abstinence in motivated patients.
- Evidence-Based: Clinically proven pharmacological support for addiction management.
How Dizone 250 Mg Works
Disulfiram inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), the enzyme responsible for metabolising acetaldehyde — the toxic intermediate of alcohol metabolism. When alcohol is consumed, acetaldehyde accumulates and causes the highly unpleasant disulfiram-alcohol reaction, deterring alcohol intake.
Dosage & Usage
- Dosage: As prescribed; adherence is critical for effectiveness. Must be part of a comprehensive addiction treatment programme.
- Precautions: Patients and carers must be aware of all interactions and contraindications.
Side Effects
- Disulfiram-alcohol reaction (flushing, nausea, palpitations) if alcohol is consumed
- Drowsiness or metallic taste
- Rare hepatotoxicity — monitor liver function
