About Eliquis 5 Mg
Eliquis 5 Mg contains Apixaban 5mg, a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, and to treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is also used for VTE prophylaxis after hip or knee replacement surgery.
Benefits of Eliquis 5 Mg
- Stroke Prevention: Significantly reduces stroke risk in atrial fibrillation patients.
- DVT/PE Treatment: Effective for acute treatment and secondary prevention of blood clots.
- Predictable Action: No routine INR monitoring required, unlike warfarin.
How Eliquis 5 Mg Works
Apixaban is a selective, reversible direct inhibitor of Factor Xa in the coagulation cascade. By blocking Factor Xa, it prevents the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin and thrombin-mediated fibrin formation, reducing clot formation without affecting platelet aggregation directly.
